It was 4:00 in the morning and I am still in the studio, painting all the canvas painting!!! I need to paint all the samples for all the student to see. Its not very fun to paint five canvas at the same time. I feel like i am working in a factory...

This was taken couples of weeks ago, all new canvas!!! It cost me quite a bit to get all these canvas, but at the end all my students had fun painting them, Thats what matter the most. I will post more canvas painting phone soon.

Don't remember who drew the mermaid on the top, but i am pretty sure its a girl, probably around 7 or 8. just find the drawing in the studio. the bottom one is what I see it her drawing, i think mind is too skinny...

Been working on a newsletter for the studio. Last time we had a newsletter was 3 years ago. I dont like writing, in fact I hate writing, for anyone who read all my blog know i cannot write.... Half of the time you probably dont know what i am talking about.
But I always want a newsletter, a place where the kid can have fun and the parent can get some information of what we are doing. So I will try to do this as monthly as possable. If you are a student or parent form the studio, you can pick it up from thestudio counter. I will probably make it downloadable from bluetadpolestudio.com later.
o and thanks Carmen for editing my writing in the newsletter, so all of you dont have to read thru my painfull writing, like now. lol

A dead bird was find outside of the studio. I know you are supposed to call the city about it, but the kids were getting restless about it, so I just pick it up and put it in the trash. I fear if I don't do it sooner, it will get run over by a shopping cart, and that will be a mess to clean up....

This week we learn about cubism, using warm colour and cool colour. It was a fun class and most of the student enjoy it. Its just abit harder for the younger one to understand.

I love seeing little children drawing super hero!!! They are done by a 4 years old and thats all he will draw every morning during summer camp. I have at least 10 of the same drawing everywhere in the studio!

We made 3D picture with clay and they all turn out pretty good. We kind of paint a painting with clay. Above its just a sample of the finish work. I love this one, dry brush texture were also added to it after its dry.

We use "Model Magic" to build baby bear. All student had fun with it, of course all the girls add bow and wings to them. and the boy made weapon for the bear...

One of the craziest class... we did sewing today during a mix art camp. Alot of screaming around for me, sometime I think the kids enjoy seeing me screaming.... but at the end the all love their creations and was playing with it. Well, that kind of make all the screaming all worth it. :)

This year Summer Camp will start on July 4th and run for the whole summer till the end of Aug. Its going to be a busy and crazy summer ahead. I will post photo of what going on during the camp as it go along. Hopefully I will have the energy to do so...

Flowers in the studio

Last week I brought in some flower and we just look at them and draw. Not a whole alot of kid like doing this, of course everyone like to draw cartoon, who want to draw some boring flower..... But its important to learn from drawing still life. I think at the end of each class, most of the student handle in pretty well and they all learn a thing or two. Its just not very fun for me trying to keep them alive for the whole week, since the plant is not getting alot of light in the studio...

Got some poster printed for the Summer Camp. The colour is abit lighter than I wanted it to be, but i guess its fine for now. I am still happy with it, spend abit of time designing the tadpole boy. You will see more of him for sure. :)

I drew this. Pen and ink over blue pencil on bigger animation paper, some photoshop is used for the black.

Took me awhile to finish this, its been awhile I draw anything manga-ish. Its nice to draw it again, its like meeting an old friend, haha.

This is it, the last pirate!! Hope everyone like all the pirates, and I am happy most people hand in a pirate for me at the end. :)

Top drawing done by Dominic, 3 1/2 year old. Its just scribble with a crayon. Usually during the first class I would ask them to draw me anything and I would try to read the drawing and student thur the drawing. The bottom drawing is what I see in his drawing. Maybe Its me, I usually see monster everywhere!!!

I love to see kid random drawing, some people might thing they look very bad and simple, but i see different thing in them. I re-drew some of my student before and I think i will do it more often. Its kind let you see what I see in a kid drawing.
This drawing is fro Emma, a 4 year old girls. When little girl draw people, the one in dress is usually the mom, and she probably have a sister, which is the shorter one on the right. The person in the middle is usually herself, because its the first thing they will draw. Different place they draw the sun mean different thing too, Maybe I will get into that later. Its not 100% right all the time, its just how I read a kid drawing after all these year of teaching. :)

During the Easter class, we got to melt some chocolate and paint with them, it was always fun to use food as one of the media. How often you can eat a piece of art! All the chocolate turn out nice after they are done :)

Rainbow chameleon

Last week we learn about the colour wheel and colour a chameleon according to it. It was a nice lesson and the kid love all the colours. Since chameleon change colour and its only fitting to have it change to different colour. I always want a real chameleon, they look so cool and interesting. Maybe one day I will get one in the studio. You know what, I am going to look into it now, and see if its hard to take care.

Found this in the studio the other day. I am sure is something from Tangled. Its Rapunzel with her blond hair and tower. But I don't know who that person is and why is he or she saying "No, No, No!" and whats the two red "thing" coming out of the neck are. The drawing look interesting and its nice to see how little kids think through their drawing.
